This study was conducted to know the chemical characteristics ^f rain and snow precipitation in Chon¡©buk province from December 1989 to February 1990, total 92 samples were collected at eight sites, and analyzed for sulfate, nitrate, chloride, zinc, lead, cadmium and pH. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. pH value was ranging from 4.12 to 6.61 with an average 4.98. 2. The order of anion content was Cl- > S04¢¥ > NOs and the ratio of sulfate and nitrate content was 1.32. 3. The order of heavy metal concentration was Zn > Pb > Cd and the ionic correlations of heavy metal were higher than those of anion. 4. In rain and snow, there were no statistical difference among ion levels, but significant difference by area.
